 The CHANCE Teen Parent Program

Community Helping Adolescents Nurture Children

CHANCE is a nurturing, safe environment that values trust, lasting relationships, and continuing education.
 
Services available to Spring Lake Park High School and Learning Alternatives (area learning center) students who are pregnant or parenting in order to help them stay in school.
      • on-site licensed child-care during school hours
      • for children 6 weeks up to 3 years old
      • daily parenting classes--earn school credit!
      • specialized support for the teen parent or pregnant teen
      • monthly visit by Public Health nurse for parent-child wellness
      • member of MOAPP (MN Organization on Adolescent Pregnancy, Prevention and Parenting)
      • free and reduced lunch program
      • connection to Early Childhood Family Education classes

CHANCE Program Goals

To support pregnant and parenting students while they complete their studies and graduate from high school

To provide comprehensive health and nutrition information

To provide parenting education and support for positive parenting and healthy growth and development

To connect students with other resources when needed

To encourage students to make healthy choices for themselves and for their children
