Volleyball - General Information
 

Name of Activity:

Volleyball

Description of sport/activity:

Varsity and JV levels will take it to the next level of competitive volleyball while enhancing player skill. B-squad and 9th grade focus on learning the basic skills and the basic rules of the sport. All levels will learn how to be leaders in the community and function efficiently as a team.

Length of season:

mid-August through early-November

Practice and/or meeting times:

Before school is in session (Preseason) we will practice twice a day from 9:00am-12:00pm and again from 1:00-3:00pm. 
During the school year:  3:00-5:30.

Practice and/or meeting location:

High school auxillary and performance gyms.

Competition/Performances:

All levels generally will play two matches a week.  Some levels will also have occasional tournament play.

Eligibility requirements:

Have all forms (and physical) completed prior to the first practice. Participation is not allowed without the blue card. Participants should maintain an acceptable GPA and have a good record of behavior. Must meet MSHSL, SLP school district requirements.

Average number of members:

9th grade through 12th grade: 45 participants

Costs and/or needed equipment:

Activities fee and athletic apparel for practices:  court shoes and running shoes.

Awards criteria & type of awards:

Varsity letter award criteria available in the activities office. Letter winners will be announced at the end of the year banquet.
Student leadership:
Captains selected at start of competitive season through an application process.
