Activity bus today

Junior Senate: there will be a short Junior senate meeting tonight and all students planning on decorating for prom should attend. The meeting will be in Brockman's room, 516

**LATE START TOMORROW...

The competitive gym will be opened for the remaining late start Wednesdays. Prom will be in the old red gym starting early Wednesday. Please have the students go to the competitive gym and not the red gym.

SLP SPRING CHESS TOURNAMENT:

Monday, May 12 - Wednesday, May 14. Play starts at 2:30 sharp each day. There will be three rounds each day. This will be a double elimination contest. Sign up with Mr. Chase in room 429. Trophy will be awarded to the winner.

LUNCH INFO: All students MUST have money in their accounts.

Starting April 15th we will change the debit floor at the high school from $6 to 0.

Any student at that time will be given a cheese sandwich, milk, fruit and vegetable if they have no money in their account.

PROM 2008 Theme: "A Red Carpet Affair"

Prom Dance goes from 8-Midnight in the HS red gym on Saturday, May 17, 2008.
Students will enter the pool entrance anytime after 6:15 p.m. Use student parking area.
Photos will be done by David Bank Studios in the lobby area. Packet forms are available at lunch and at Able St. secuirty.
Grand March is at 7pm in the Fine Arts Center and is a ticket event. No extra tickets are available.
There are no items for sale from the prom committee this year.
Parents MUST LEAVE after the Grand March is complete.
Students must stay in the prom area. There will be no re-entry back into prom once you have left.
This is a school event so school rules will apply to ALL guests.
All outside guests had to have a security background check form completed by last week. The lists will be on file at the door.
TICKETS: $35 per ticket. On sale in lunch periods only.

Math team spring meetings on Tues. the 20th, Tues. the 27th and Thurs. the 29th.

Reminder to Junior Panther Mentors who will be heading to the Middle School Thursday, May 15. Load bus at 12:30. You must see Ms. Corneil-Smith to get your permission slip to attend!

LAST LATE START Wednesday, May 21st

This is our last late start Wednesday for this school year.

YEARBOOK: Yearbook distribution is on Wed. May 21 during 5th hour.

STUDENT COUNCIL? All student interested in running for next year's Student Council must pick up an application for candidacy from Mrs. Kranz in room 420. All completed applications are due by Tuesday May 13th.

Our 8th Annual Senior Art Show will start next week MAY 8 through May end.

BAND CONCERTS:

Tuesday, May 27th Band Concert 7:30 PM, FAC. Concert featuring the combined 9th grade Varsity Band as well as the Concert Band.

LIBRARY NEWS:

All library materials are due Friday, the 16th. Please help us by reminding students to get their materials back to the library. After the 16th we must start entering fees for overdue materials assumed lost.

Dates to remember:

The Library Lab and the Career Labs will close May 30.
ALL library books and other items will be due May 16th. Because of the construction, etc. we must close a bit early this year.
Teachers may still bring classes into the library up until June 2nd, but the library will be closed to study hall students after the 16th of May. We have a LOT of packing to do in here! Thanks for your help and understanding.

Team teaching room is CLOSED - building renovated.
Counseling lab will be closed May 30th
Group room near counseling will close May 23rd
Red gym closed for prom May 13th and then closed for demolition.
Panther Den will close May 30th

WEEKLY ACTIVITIES:

The Wondering Women Book Club under the weekly stuff if you like. Thursdays at 2:30 in the library.

Panther Den is open Monday through Thursday in the Team Teaching room. Students who are staying after and need a place to wait for a ride or to meet some other students, the Panther Den in open from 2:30 - 4:45 p.m.

SOPHOMORE SENATE: They meet every Monday after school at 2:30 in room 415

(C.H.A.T.) Chemical Health Awareness Team is a group of drug free SLP HS students that meets every Thursday from 2:30pm to 3:30pm in room 432. All are welcome to participate. No need to sign up...just show up!

GSA is the Gay-Straight Alliance. It is starting up again at Spring Lake Park. We meet on Wednesdays at 2:30 in Room 435A. Anyone interested is welcome to attend. This is a student-led and student-organized school club that aims to create a safe, welcoming and accepting school environment for all youth, regardless of one's sexual orientation

Manga/Anime Club

Meetings are on Thursdays in room 519 from 2:30 - 4:00. Manga is a Japanese fro comics and Anime is Japanese for cartoons. The club is for anyone interested in comic books (now called graphic novels), Japanese comic book art, etc.

ACTIVITY BUS will run after school on the following days:Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. The busses will pick up at the High School at 4:45 p.m. on the Able Street side.

BOYS BASKETBALL: 9th - 11th grade boys basketball players see me in room 431 to get more summer basketball info?

VOLLEYBALL MEETING: There will be a spring volleyball meeting for all players including Seniors from last fall season. Meeting is scheduled for next Thursday, May 15 right after school in Coach Johnson's photo room 221. This year's seniors, varsity, JV, B, 9th grade and anyone who is interested in joining this fall. Captains will be voted on at this meeting along with summer camp, fund raiser information and next fall's tentative schedule.
