Spring Lake Park High School
Parent’s Advisory Committee
By-Laws
 
Article I
Name
This committee shall be called Parent’s Advisory Committee (PAC).
 
Article II
Purpose
1. The purposes of the Spring Lake Park High School Parent’s Advisory Committee (PAC) shall be:
  • To advise the principal.
  • To assist the principal in communicating among high school parents and citizens.
  • To assist the principal in other areas when he/she determines such involvement is beneficial to Spring Lake Park High School.
2. The PAC shall not:
  • Become involved in personnel matters, which include employment, dismissal, promotion, or transfer of individual high school employees.
  • Encroach upon professional prerogatives of the teaching staff
3. PAC shall not recommend or support candidates for election to the School Board of District 16.
 
Article III
Membership
PAC shall consist of parents of Spring Lake Park High School students.
 
Article IV
Committees
1. Officers
  • The chairperson will serve a term of one (1) year.
  • The vice-chairperson will serve one (1) year as vice-chairperson and the following year as chairperson.
  • The secretary/treasurer’s term shall be one (1) year.
  • The volunteer coordinator term shall e one year.
  • The terms of office are concurrent with the school year.
  • Elections shall be held as soon as possible each school year.
2. Executive Committee
  • The chairperson, vice-chairperson, and secretary/treasurer shall constitute the Executive Committee.
  • The Executive Committee shall meet at the call of the principal, chairperson, or any two Executive Committee members.
  • The Executive Committee may assist the principal in planning the agenda for PAC meetings, suggesting programs, and/or conducting PAC activities between meetings.
 
Article V
Meetings
1. The PAC shall meet monthly from August to April except during December. The date of any regular meeting may be changed, or a meeting omitted, upon majority decision of those present at a PAC meeting. Special meetings shall be at the call of the principal.
2. The time of the meeting shall be in the evening of the third Monday of each month. The location of the meetings shall be Spring Lake Park High School.
3. Each meeting will begin at the announced time and continue for no more than two (2) hours unless by unanimous consent of those present.
4. When a vote is necessary, the majority shall rule.
5. All meetings shall be conducted according to procedure as outlined in Robert’s Rule of Order.
6. Meetings shall be open to the public; visitor participation may be limited by the principal.
 
Article VI
Publicity
Publicity regarding the work of the PAC or its committees will be released only after approval by the Executive Committee and the principal.
 
Article VII
Miscellaneous
1. Clerical/duplicating services as needed by the PAC shall be provided within reasonable limits by the principal’s office.
2. No indebtedness shall be incurred in the name of PAC without approval of the principal.
3. This constitution shall be reviewed as needed by the principal and the Executive Committee. Changes shall be made by majority vote.
