Student Parking Permits - Waiting List
Names are still being taken for the student parking waiting list.  Sign up in the security shed in the student parking lot.  More permits will be available around November 1.
Remember: Able Park will be closed for the winter!

Always be a Good Neighbor
It is important to remember to be a "good neighbor" when we are parking off campus.  Please remember to pick up any trash by your vehicle and never park in front of mailboxes or driveways.  In order for parking to be continued off campus, we must be respectful of the residents of Spring Lake Park.  Thank you for your consideration to make this a positive experience for all.

Student Parking Lot Policies
The student parking lot is coordinated by the Community Education & Outreach Department, located in the Spring Lake Park High School building at entrance 27. Permits are purchased the first week of school by priority (see below). The parking lot security guard will sell permits starting at 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, the first day of school, in the lobby of entrance 22. Permit applications are available in the Community Education office (entrance 27) from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. daily starting the last week in August each year.

Due to construction, the number of available parking spots has been reduced for the start of the 2007-08 school year.  (More information below).

The student parking lot is located on the east side of the campus (Highway 65 and 79th Avenue). Students may only park in this designated student lot; they are not allowed to park in the Able Street lot, the small southeast lot adjacent to the athletic field on the Able Street/79th Avenue corner, the District Offices lot, or behind any of the buildings. Students who use the student parking lot beyond the normal school day should continue to park in the designated student parking area. Students should never park in the areas designated for visitors or staff.

Security personnel will monitor the student parking lot during the school day. All student vehicles parked in the lot must display a student-parking permit at all times. After the first week of school, permit applications, daily permits, and questions should be directed to the security guard during school hours in the parking lot security shed.

To receive a permit, students will need to complete the necessary paperwork, pay the entire fee, and present a valid Minnesota Driver's License. Fees may be paid by cash, check, or Visa or MasterCard.

Student permits are issued for the school year, by trimester, for limited use, or on a daily basis. Students are strongly encouraged to purchase Annual permits. Trimester Permits are designed for a student who may only need to use the parking facility for one or two trimesters, or who cannot afford the entire Annual Permit fee at one time. Limited Use Trimester permits are available for a student who will be at school for less than 3 hours a day. These permits might be used by a PSEO student (one who takes college classes during the regular school day as part of his/her curriculum), an OEC (Occupations in Emergency Care) student who attends class here only first and second hour, a Trades student who comes to SLP only for the afternoon Trades class, or a student leaving school early to go to work as part of the Work Program. A student who attends school more than three hours a day must buy a regular Trimester or Annual Permit. Students in the Learning Alternatives Program are also required to purchase a student parking permit if a car is driven to school and parked here.

Please note: Due to construction at the high school, fewer parking permits (actually, quite a few fewer) are available at this time. This is the temporary "price of progress" as major improvements are taking place throughout the school.  We hope that more permits will be available, perhaps by November 1.

Annual/Yearly             $150
Trimester                         60
Limited Tri use**             30

Permit Priority

Permits will be sold the first week of school according to these established priorities:

* Wednesday: By need (PSEO, work-study, trades, 916, open enrollment, independent study, etc.)

* Thursday: Seniors

* Friday: Juniors (Subject to availability)

To enable students to purchase permits, there will be "free" parking on Wednesday and Thursday of the first week of school, as long as space remains available. Starting Friday, all vehicles parked in the student parking lot must have a permit; those without permits will be ticketed.

Trimester Permits: Students that purchase a Trimester Permit must turn-in the permit during the last week of the trimester in order to purchase the next trimester permit. Any trimester permit not re-purchased by 2:30 p.m. on the last day of the trimester will be sold to someone on the waiting list. There can be no exceptions. It is in the student’s best interest to purchase an annual permit at the beginning of the school year to avoid this hassle.

If at any time a student has a question or problem in the parking lot, he/she should talk to the parking lot security guard ASAP. Communication is vital at all times – we cannot be aware of a problem or situation if the security guard is not told of the problem or situation. Security is always available to help in many ways. If a student needs help and doesn’t see the security guard, the student should stop in at the Community Eduation & Outreach office. Parents or students should call the security guard at 763-795-5132 between the hours of 6:30 a.m.- 2:30 p.m. After hours please leave a message on the voice mail or contact someone in Community Services at 763-786-1338.
