Requirements for athletic participation:

♦A Sport’s qualifying physical examination clearance form. (This is kept on file for three years)

♦An Assumed Risk Agreement and Participation agreement

♦Parental Permission Form

♦ISD 16 School Policies Form re: Chemical Use

♦Athletic fee

Fees:
$150.00 - First Participation
$125.00 - Second Participation
$100.00 - Third Participation
$75.00 - Fourth Participation

Any student who qualifies for free or reduced lunch shall also qualify for free or reduced activity fees. No fee or ½ fee respectively. Documentation is required.

Middle School athletes will pay the middle school rate whether they participate on a solely middle school team or on a combined middle/high school team. Registration for a combined Middle/High School team must be done at the High School Athletic Office.

High School Participation:

There are several high school sports that allow participation from middle school students. Registration for these sports will be at the high school Athletic Office.

Fall: Cross Country ( Boy’s & Girl’s), Boy’s Soccer, Girl’s Soccer, Girl’s Swimming, Girl's Tennis

Winter: Girl’s Gymnastics, Boy’s Swimming, Girl’s Hockey, Nordic Skiing

Spring: Softball, Baseball, Golf (Boy’s & Girl’s), Boy's Tennis
 
Philosophy
The objective of Middle School Athletics is to promote teamwork, skill development, good sportsmanship and equal participation.

Activity Bus
 
Fee: $30.00 per semester and $50.00 per year.
 
Limited bus stops are available.
 
Buses run at
5:00 PM - Mondays, Tuesdays, & Thursdays
4:00 PM - Wednesdays & Friday
 
There are typically two buses, one North route and one South route with pre-determined stops. Students must sign up daily to ride the activity bus and show the driver their activity bus ID card.  When the rider-ship is low, one route may be run instead of two. Bus passes can be purchased at the Greeter's Desk.
 

Westwood Middle School, Community Services and Anoka County will be offering a variety of extended day programming opportunities for students. These activities will have both an academic and enrichment focus. Most of the activities will have a fee.
 
Participation in after school activities is a great way to provide additional opportunities for your student to develop mentally, physically, emotionally and socially.
